What is Chiropractic?

Chiropractic is a primary contact healthcare discipline that places its emphasis on the examination, diagnosis and management of problems and/or conditions that can affect the spine, muscles or extremity joints of the body.

Common conditions treated are:

  • Back or neck pain
  • Migraine headaches
  • Sporting and accidental injuries
  • Whiplash related problems
  • Work related problems
  • Limb pain, numbness and tingling
  • Arthritic and other joint problems

Skeletal adjustment or joint manipulations and mobilisations are physical procedures used to improve ranges of motion, reduce muscle spasm and decrease pain.

The treatments generally do not hurt but you may feel discomfort afterwards as the body adjusts. Using ice packs where necessary are recommended during this healing phase.  Your Chiropractor will happily give advice and support when required.

Any healthcare procedure has risks and benefits and these are discussed keeping the patient fully informed. Together considered decisions are made and then Chiropractic procedures are applied. Patient well-being and safety is always the primary concern.

Chiropractic has increasing referrals from midwives, health visitors and parents. Babies receive gentle and careful treatment and assessment. Chiropractic care is appropriate for all children.

Selected treatment is appropriate for the patient’s age and condition
